Road trip NV-UT-AZ
I love to drive, I look at the countryside and sometimes even fall asleep. As you know, I have already crossed the American continent from one end to the other, but this time, my mother had quite a surprise for me. We rented a car in Las Vegas and set off on an adventure to explore three desert states in the United States: Nevada, Utah and Arizona.
For a whole day, we drove to the town of Page, a fairly central point for the activities we wanted to do, and we slept there three nights. What is surprising about this route is that we changed states often, going from Arizona to Utah, to Arizona, to Utah then to Arizona, all of it in some 200 kilometres. As you can imagine, the semi-desert landscapes straight out of an American western or an Oliver Stone movie immediately transported us elsewhere. The town of Page is surprising with its hydroelectric dam next to the road and charmed us with its tranquility, many services and beautiful little park close to our hotel. Well-known Lake Powell is a popular attraction in the area.
First Stop: Antelope Canyon
The first morning we headed to Antelope Canyon. My mother dreamed of it. Once there, we quickly realized that a mother travelling with a child running fast like me, without the possibility of bringing a stroller, was an almost impossible adventure. However, the guides on the site, both in Lower Canyon and in Upper Canyon, told us that it was possible despite the series of steps to climb, but this is because they don’t know me. So we decided to turn back and tell ourselves that this activity would be more easily achieved in a few years. As a consolation, we stopped at the Horseshoe Bend which did not disappoint. What a discovery! You will find the full description in another entry.
Second Stop: Monument Valley
The next day, from Page, we drove two hours to Monument Valley. For my mother, this site was the highlight of this trip, as it had been on her bucket list for almost 20 years… It is today and at 2 years old that I will have the chance of meeting this legendary castle of orange stones, a symbol of Navajo culture. My goddess… It’s with tears in my eyes that I invite you to read the text on the visit.
Third Stop: Grand Canyon
On the third morning, we left our hotel for the Grand Canyon. In the evening, we went to Las Vegas where our friends joined us for a wedding. Apart from the fact that I wanted to throw myself into the Canyon at any opportunity and from all viewpoints, I must say that this attraction, however popular it may be, left us somewhat disappointed. Find out more in the text under this name.

This experience, which made me add three American states to my list, won me over. Before this trip, I was very turbulent and did not listen to instructions. On this trip, I grew older and changed. Is it the orange sand, the clean air or the heat of the desert? I cannot say. But both my mother and I experienced a very strong moment of our existence which impressed us forever.

Message From My Parents
At first glance, I was a little worried about leaving for such a long trip with so many stops with a two-year-old child. But everything went perfectly. Generally, children like to drive, and The Traveller Baby collaborated throughout the 1,600 kilometres travelled. Whenever I have ventured into a roadtrip, and more particularly those that I made in the United States, I always came back saying it was the trip of my life. Here again, I was able to say this sentence. What marvels we have seen in such a short time! Landscapes that go from the sun to the moon in the blink of an eye! Thank you, life!
