Royal Tyrrell Museum
This is a wonderful museum for both connoisseurs and the uninitiated, interesting for adults and magical for children. There is something for the whole family. Despite the pathway’s large scale, I followed my parents all the way through thousands of dinosaur bones. At times, I would have liked to get out of my rickshaw to explore a little further, but since it’s a museum and the artefacts are for the most part authentic, my parents thought it more prudent to keep me fastened down! I was nonetheless able to see so many things and sometimes even touch certain elements at my height. I took pleasure in spinning the many globes explaining the various eras of life on Earth.
Everything seems so new, judiciously placed; it’s like we’re in a story book. The course takes us through the different phases of the presence of dinosaurs on Earth in a colourful scenario rich in realism. However, we were surprised that such a large Canadian museum does not offer French texts in any of its exhibitions.

Outside, a huge game module has been installed for children. The entire structure is secured by nets; it is impossible to fall to the ground as in other installations. However, there are no fences around the children’s park and there is a big steep hill nearby.
What we also enjoyed during our visit was our hike in the Midland Provincial Park (see the article about it) right next to the museum. The pathway, which is approximately two kilometres long, is paved and there are interpretation panels to teach us about the formation of badlands.

Message From My Parents
This is really a visit to consider when you are in the area. As I am trained in museology, it is easy for me to be critical of museums, but here I didn’t find anything to say. The newly completed renovations have given way to a museum of superior quality with exhibits of great professionalism (both in terms of presentation and message) and which can easily compete with other world-renowned institutions. I was very impressed throughout my visit which is well worth every penny. Bring a stroller for young children because it requires a lot of walking.
